Seeing Through Jesus’ Eyes

Seeing Through Jesus’ Eyes

May 16, 2025

So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:16-17 NLT

Love one another as I have loved you. John 13:34 NIV

When we authentically recognize that we are seen, loved, valued, forgiven by Christ, our King and Savior, we have new abilities and new responsibilities. We are now new creations, and we are able to see and value others from God’s point of view, if we choose. That is actually Jesus’ command to us. We are to walk through the world with His eyes, seeing, loving, and living as He has done for us. This is a major responsibility, representing God accurately to others. How can we do that?

Ask God to guide you. Pray for awareness and ability to see as He sees. Ask for wisdom, discernment, and patience in your interactions.

Recognize the inherent worth of every person. Jesus saw people as individuals with unique value, created in God's image, regardless of their circumstances or actions.

Slow down and purposely see beyond the surface. Instead of focusing on negative behaviors or appearances, deliberately try to understand the deeper reasons behind people's actions, recognizing their struggles and vulnerabilities. Ask God to show you the potential and purpose He sees and treat them as He would if He were here in the flesh.

Practice empathy and compassion. Put yourself in the other person's shoes and try to see things from their perspective. This will involve acknowledging their pain, offering support, and showing kindness.

Develop a heart to serve. Jesus’ ministry was not characterized by dispensing advice from a distance. He came here purposely, intentionally to serve, not to be served. He became actively and sacrificially involved in the needs of people. Seeing people through His eyes inspires a desire to involve ourselves.

Seek to understand and forgive. Seeing and serving people gets us hurt sometimes. Follow Jesus. Extend forgiveness to others even when they don’t ask you for it. It’s the Jesus view.

  • Seeing as Jesus sees means living and loving as Jesus does. Lord, help me. I know this requires a radical change in my heart. I surrender to Your love.
